Maytag Recalled Dishwashers
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of the Maytag dishwashers. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
About 1.7 million Maytag dishwashers have been recalled due to fire hazard. An electrical failure in the dishwasher’s heating element can pose a serious fire hazard.
Maytag has received 12 reports of dishwasher heating element failures that resulted in fires and dishwasher damage, including one report of extensive kitchen damage from a fire. No injuries have been reported.
The recall includes Maytag®, Amana®, Jenn-Air®, Admiral®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand dishwashers with plastic tubs and certain serial numbers. The affected dishwashers were manufactured with black, bisque, white, silver and stainless steel front panels. The brand name is printed on the front of the dishwasher. The model and serial numbers are printed on a label located inside the plastic tub on a tag near the left side of the door opening. Serial numbers will start or end with one of the following sequences.

The units were sold at department and appliance stores and by homebuilders nationwide from February 2006 through April 2010 for between $250 and $900.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled appliances, disconnect the electric supply by shutting off the fuse or circuit breaker controlling it, inform all users of the dishwasher about the risk of fire and contact Maytag to verify if their dishwasher is included in the recall. If the dishwasher is included in the recall, consumers can either schedule a free in-home repair or receive a rebate following the purchase of certain new Maytag brand stainless-steel tub dishwashers. The rebate is $150 if the consumer purchases new dishwasher models MDB7759, MDB7609 or MDBH979; or $250 if the consumer purchases new dishwasher models MDB8959, MDB8859, MDB7809 or MDB7709. Consumers should not return the recalled dishwashers to the retailer where purchased as retailers are not prepared to take the units back.

Maytag Recalled Refrigerators
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has released a voluntary recall information for the following products’ names: Maytag, Magic chef, Performa by Maytag and Crosley brand refrigerators. About 46,000 refrigerators are recalled by the manufacturer Maytag Corp. due to the fire hazard; 1,6 mln units were previously recalled in 1996.
An electrical failure in the relay, the component that turns on the refrigerator compressor, can cause overheating and pose a serious fire hazard.
Maytag has received 23 additional reports of refrigerator relay ignition, including 4 reports of property damage ranging from smoke damage to extensive kitchen damage.
The recall includes certain Maytag®, Magic Chef®, Performa by Maytag® and Crosley® brand side-by-side and top freezer refrigerators. The affected refrigerators were manufactured in black, bisque, white and stainless steel. They have model and serial numbers printed on a label located on the top middle or left upper side of the refrigerator liner and have the following model and serial number combinations:
For the side by side refrigerators serial numbers ends with CN, CP, YY, YZ and model numbers beginning with MZ.
For the top freezer refrigerators serial numbers ending with CA, CC, CE, CG, ZB, ZD, ZF, ZH and model numbers beginning with CT15G4, CTB152, CTL151, CTM152, CTN151, MTB195, MTB215, MTB245, MTF195, MTF215, PTB155, PTB175, PTB195, PTB215.
Refrigerators with freezers on the bottom are not included in this recall.
These models were sold by department and appliance stores and by homebuilders nationwide from September 2000 through May 2004 for between about $350 and $1,600.
Consumers should immediately contact Maytag to determine if their refrigerator is included in the recall and if so, to schedule a free in-home repair. Consumers should not return the refrigerator to the retailer where it was purchased.

Maytag and Samsung Recalled Washers
Maytag® and Samsung™ Brand Front Loading Washing Machines Recalled Due to Fire Hazard
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission has announced a voluntary recall of the following washers. Consumers should stop using recalled products immediately unless otherwise instructed. It is illegal to resell or attempt to resell a recalled consumer product.
250,000 units of Maytag and Samsung Brand Front Loading Washing Machines manufactured. Water leakage onto the electrical connections to the washing machine’s thermal sensor could cause an electrical short and ignite a circuit board, posing a fire hazard to consumers.
Maytag has received five reports of incidents involving ignition in the circuit board. Samsung has received one report of an incident involving ignition in the circuit board. No injuries, fires or property damage outside the washing machine have been reported.
The recall involves certain Maytag and Samsung brand front-load washers. The Maytag washers have model numbers beginning with MAH9700 or MAH8700. The Samsung model number WF306BHW or a model number beginning with WF316. Not all serial numbers are subject to the recall. The model and serial numbers are located on a tag at the bottom of the door opening. These washers were sold by major department and appliance stores nationwide from April 2005 through August 2006 for between $1,000 and $1,200.
